Algebra, VIII, p. 115

Let A,BA,B be rings, P an (A(A, B)-bimodule, and Q a (B(B, A)-bimodule. Let φ:\varphi : P⊗BQ→AP\otimes_BQ\rightarrow A be a homomorphism of (A(A, A)-bimodules and ψ:Q⊗AP→B\psi : Q\otimes_AP\rightarrow B a homomorphism of (B(B, B)-bimodules satisfying φ(x⊗u)y=xψ(u⊗y)\varphi (x\otimes u)y=x\psi (u\otimes y) and uφ(x⊗v)=u\varphi (x\otimes v) = ψ(u⊗x)v\psi (u\otimes x)v for x,yx, y in P and u,vu, v in Q. Suppose that φ\varphi is surjective.

a) Prove that the A-module P is generating.

b) Prove that φ\varphi is an isomorphism.

c) Construct an isomorphism of (B(B, A)-bimodules between Q and HomB(P,B)_B(P,B).
