Theory of Sets, chapter I, § 2. Theorems

Under the hypotheses of C5, if the theory T\mathscr{T} turns out to be contradictory, the same will be true of T′\mathscr{T}'. For if AA and "not AA" are theorems in T\mathscr{T}, then (T1∣a1)…(Th∣ah)A(T_1|a_1) \ldots (T_h|a_h)A and not(T1∣a1)…(Th∣ah)A\mathrm{not}(T_1|a_1) \ldots (T_h|a_h)A are theorems in T′\mathscr{T}'. \* For example, if the theory of groups were contradictory, the theory of sets would also be contradictory. \*

Bourbaki sets the proof directly after the statement, and the corpus does not separate them, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
