Let AA and RR be relations in T\mathscr{T}, and let xx be a letter distinct from the constants of T\mathscr{T}. If R⇒AR \Rightarrow A is a theorem in T\mathscr{T}, then

(∃x)R⇔(∃Ax)R(\exists x)R \Leftrightarrow (\exists_A x)R

is a theorem in T\mathscr{T}. If (not RR) ⇒A\Rightarrow A is a theorem in T\mathscr{T}, then

(∀x)R⇔(∀Ax)R(\forall x)R \Leftrightarrow (\forall_A x)R

is a theorem in T\mathscr{T}. In particular, if AA is a theorem in T\mathscr{T},

(∃x)R⇔(∃Ax)Rand(∀x)R⇔(∀Ax)R(\exists x)R \Leftrightarrow (\exists_A x)R \qquad \text{and} \qquad (\forall x)R \Leftrightarrow (\forall_A x)R

are theorems in T\mathscr{T}.
