Theory of Sets, chapter III, § 1. Order relations. Ordered sets

Let (xι)ι∈I(x_\iota)_{\iota \in I}, (yι)ι∈I(y_\iota)_{\iota \in I} be two families of elements of an ordered set E\mathrm{E}, indexed by the same set I\mathrm{I}, and such that xι⩽yιx_\iota \leqslant y_\iota for all ι∈I\iota \in \mathrm{I}. If both families have a least upper bound in E\mathrm{E}, then sup⁡ι∈Ixι⩽sup⁡ι∈Iyι\sup\limits_{\iota \in I} x_\iota \leqslant \sup\limits_{\iota \in I} y_\iota.

For a=sup⁡ι∈Iyιa = \sup\limits_{\iota \in I} y_\iota is an upper bound of the set of the yιy_\iota, so that xι⩽yι⩽ax_\iota \leqslant y_\iota \leqslant a for all ι∈I\iota \in \mathrm{I}, and hence sup⁡ι∈Ixι⩽a\sup\limits_{\iota \in I} x_\iota \leqslant a.

Bourbaki sets the proof directly after the statement, and the corpus does not separate them, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
