Theory of Sets, chapter III, § 7. Inverse limits and direct limits

For each α∈I\alpha \in I put Eα′=fα(E)E'_\alpha = f_\alpha(E). Then the sets Eα′E'_\alpha form an inverse system of subsets of the EαE_\alpha by reason of (2), and it is immediately clear that lim←⁡Eα′=E=lim←⁡Eα\varprojlim E'_\alpha = E = \varprojlim E_\alpha. The mapping fαβ′:Eβ′→Eα′f'_{\alpha\beta} : E'_\beta \to E'_\alpha (where α⩽β\alpha \leqslant \beta), whose graph is the same as that of the restriction of fαβf_{\alpha\beta} to EβE_\beta, is surjective, and we have

(10)Eα′=fα(E)⊂⋂β⩾αfαβ(Eβ)(10) \qquad E'_\alpha = f_\alpha(E) \subset \bigcap_{\beta \geqslant \alpha} f_{\alpha\beta}(E_\beta)

for all α∈I\alpha \in I.

Bourbaki sets the proof directly after the statement, and the corpus does not separate them, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
