Commutative Algebra, chapter II, § 5. Finitely generated projective modules. Invertible fractional ideals

If NN is finitely presented and NpN_p is a free ApA_p-module of rank pp, there exists f∈A−pf \in A - p such that NN, is a free AfA_f-module of rank pp.

There exist by hypothesis pp elements xi∈Nx_i \in \mathbf{N} (1≤i≤p1 \leq i \leq p) such that the xi/1x_i/1 form a basis of the free A,−A_,--module NpN_p. Consider the homomorphism u:Ap→Nu : A^p \to \mathbf{N} such that u(ei)=xiu(e_i) = x_i for 1≤i≤p1 \leq i \leq p, (ei)1≤i≤p(e_i)_{1 \leq i \leq p} being the canonical basis of ApA^p. As upu_p is bijective by hypothesis, there exists f∈A−pf \in A - p such that ufu_f is bijective, by virtue of Proposition 2.

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
