Integration, chapter IX, § 1. Premeasures and measures on a topological space

— Let (Kα)α∈A(K_\alpha)_{\alpha \in A} be a crushing of T, and let N=T−⋃αKαN = T - \bigcup_\alpha K_\alpha. We denote by T′T' the locally compact space obtained by equipping T′T' with the sum topology of the topologies of the subspaces KαK_\alpha and any locally compact topology on NN (unless expressly mentioned to the contrary, NN will always be equipped with the discrete topology). For each α∈A\alpha \in A, let iαi_\alpha be the canonical injection of KαK_\alpha into T′T', and let μα′\mu'_\alpha be the measure on T′T' that is the image of μKα\mu_{K_\alpha} under iαi_\alpha. The family (μα′)(\mu'_\alpha) is summable: for, if ff is a continuous function on T′T' with compact support, then Supp⁡(f)\operatorname{Supp}(f) intersects KαK_\alpha for only a finite number of indices α\alpha. We set μ′=∑α∈Aμα′\mu' = \sum_{\alpha \in A} \mu'_\alpha. The set NN being locally negligible for μ′\mu', since it is so for each μα′\mu'_\alpha (Prop. 9), the family (Kα)α∈A(K_\alpha)_{\alpha \in A} is a μ′\mu'-crushing of T′T'; now, the measure induced by μ′\mu' on KαK_\alpha is obviously μKα\mu_{K_\alpha} and the formula (7), applied to μ\mu and to μ′\mu', shows that μ∙=μ′∙\mu^\bullet = {\mu'}^\bullet. Similarly, the last assertion of the statement of Prop. 9, applied to μ\mu and to μ′\mu', shows that the measurable mappings are the same for the two measures μ\mu and μ′\mu'.

These two properties permit reducing nearly all of the theory of integration with respect to μ\mu to the theory elaborated for locally compact spaces. These considerations will be developed in No. 10.

Here is another application of the concept of crushing:

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
