Integration, chapter IX, § 1. Premeasures and measures on a topological space

Let XX be a μ\mu-measurable subset of TT. There exists a locally countable family (Lα)α∈A(L_\alpha)_{\alpha \in A} of compact subsets of XX, pairwise disjoint, such that X−⋃α∈ALαX - \bigcup_{\alpha \in A} L_\alpha is locally μ\mu-negligible. If, in addition, XX is the union of a sequence (Xn)(X_n) of measurable sets such that μ∙(Xn)<+∞\mu^\bullet(X_n) < +\infty, then the set BB of α∈A\alpha \in A such that μ∙(Lα)≠0\mu^\bullet(L_\alpha) \neq 0 is countable, and X−⋃β∈BLβX - \bigcup_{\beta \in B} L_\beta is locally μ\mu-negligible.

Let ff be the characteristic function of XX, and let (Kα)α∈A(K_\alpha)_{\alpha \in A} be a crushing of TT such that the restriction of ff to each of the KαK_\alpha is continuous (Prop. 10). The set Lα=Kα∩XL_\alpha = K_\alpha \cap X is then compact for every α∈A\alpha \in A, and (Lα)α∈A(L_\alpha)_{\alpha \in A} is the desired family. Let us pass to the second assertion; the measurable sets XnX_n may clearly be assumed to be disjoint, and it suffices to establish the assertion for each of them. In other words, changing notation if necessary, we can suppose that μ∙(X)<+∞\mu^\bullet(X) < +\infty. The set BB of α∈A\alpha \in A such that μ∙(Lα)>0\mu^\bullet(L_\alpha) > 0 is then countable, and it only remains to prove that the set N=⋃α∈A−BLαN = \bigcup_{\alpha \in A - B} L_\alpha is locally negligible. But KK is a compact set; the family (Lα)α∈A(L_\alpha)_{\alpha \in A} being locally countable, the set K∩NK \cap N is the union of a countable subfamily of the family (K∩Lα)α∈A−B(K \cap L_\alpha)_{\alpha \in A - B}, and this set is therefore locally negligible. The same is then true of NN (No. 2, Prop. 2) and the proposition is established.

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
