Lie Groups and Lie Algebras, VIII, 243

Let λ,μ∈P++\lambda , \mu\in P_{++} and α∈B\alpha \in B be such that λ(Hα)≥1\lambda (H_{\alpha})\geq 1 and μ(Hα)≥1\mu(H_{\alpha})\geq 1. Let F=E(λ)⊗E(μ)F = E(\lambda )\otimes E(\mu).

a) Show that dim Fλ+μ=1F^{\lambda+\mu}= 1 and dim Fλ+μ−α=2F^{\lambda+\mu-\alpha}= 2.

b) Show that Xα:Fλ+μ−α→Fλ+μX_{\alpha}: F^{\lambda+\mu-\alpha}\rightarrow F^{\lambda+\mu} is surjective, and that the non-zero elements of its kernel are primitive (remark that, if β∈B\beta \in B is distinct from α\alpha, λ+μ−α+β\lambda +\mu-\alpha +\beta is not a weight of F).

c) Deduce that E(λ)⊗E(μ)E(\lambda )\otimes E(\mu) contains a unique submodule isomorphic to

E(λ+μ−α) E(\lambda +\mu-\alpha )

d) Show that S2(E(λ))\mathbf{S}^2(E(\lambda )) (resp. ⋀2E(λ)\bigwedge^2E(\lambda )) contains a unique submodule isomorphic to E(2λ)E(2\lambda ) (resp. to E(2λ−α)E(2\lambda -\alpha )).
