Lie Groups and Lie Algebras, chapter VII, § 2. Cartan subalgebras and regular elements of a Lie algebra

Let (gi)i∈I(\mathfrak{g}_i)_{i\in I} be a finite family of Lie algebras and g=∏i∈Igi\mathfrak{g}=\prod_{i\in I}\mathfrak{g}_i.

The Cartan subalgebras of g\mathfrak{g} are the subalgebras of the form ∏i∈Ihi\prod_{i\in I}\mathfrak{h}_i, where hi\mathfrak{h}_i

is a Cartan subalgebra of gi\mathfrak{g}_i.

If hi\mathfrak{h}_i is a subalgebra of gi\mathfrak{g}_i with normalizer ni\mathfrak{n}_i, then ∏hi\prod\mathfrak{h}_i is a subalgebra of g\mathfrak{g} with normalizer ∏ni\prod\mathfrak{n}_i; if the hi\mathfrak{h}_i are nilpotent, ∏hi\prod\mathfrak{h}_i is nilpotent; thus, if hi\mathfrak{h}_i is a Cartan subalgebra of gi\mathfrak{g}_i for all i,∏hii,\prod\mathfrak{h}_i is a Cartan subalgebra of g\mathfrak{g}. Conversely, let h\mathfrak{h} be a Cartan subalgebra of g\mathfrak{g}; the projection hi\mathfrak{h}_i of h\mathfrak{h} onto gi\mathfrak{g}_i is a nilpotent subalgebra of gi\mathfrak{g}_i, and ∏hi\prod\mathfrak{h}_i is a nilpotent subalgebra of g\mathfrak{g} containing h\mathfrak{h}; hence h=∏hi\mathfrak{h}=\prod\mathfrak{h}_i (Prop. 1); thus, for all i,hii,\mathfrak{h}_i is its own normalizer in gi\mathfrak{g}_i, and so is a Cartan subalgebra of gi\mathfrak{g}_i.

Bourbaki sets the proof directly after the statement, and the corpus does not separate them, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
