Lie Groups and Lie Algebras, chapter VII, § 3. Conjugacy theorems

A finite product of automorphisms of g\mathfrak{g} of the form eadxe^{adx} with ad xx nilpotent is called an elementary automorphism of g\mathfrak{g}. The group of elementary automorphisms of g\mathfrak{g} is denoted by Aute(g)_e(\mathfrak{g}).

If u∈u\in Aut(g\mathfrak{g}),ueadxu−1=eadu(x),ue^{adx}u^{-1}=e^{adu(x)}. It follows that Aute(g)_e(\mathfrak{g}) is a normal subgroup of Aut(g\mathfrak{g}). If k=Rk=\mathbf{R} or C\mathbf{C}, Aute(g)_e(\mathfrak{g}) is contained in the group Int(g\mathfrak{g}) of inner automorphisms of g\mathfrak{g} (Chap. III, §6, no. 2, Def. 2).

\* In the general case, Aute(g)_e(\mathfrak{g}) is contained in the identity component of the algebraic group Aut(g\mathfrak{g}).\*

Bourbaki sets the proof directly after the statement, and the corpus does not separate them, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
