Lie Groups and Lie Algebras, chapter VIII, § 7. Finite dimensional modules over a split semi-simple Lie algebra

Take G=ZG =\mathbf{Z} and φ(F)=\varphi (F) = dim F. The corresponding homomorphism from R(a)\mathscr{R}(\mathfrak{a}) to Z\mathbf{Z} is denoted by dim. Let cc be the class of a trivial a\mathfrak{a}-module of dimension 1, and let ψ\psi be the homomorphism n→ncn \rightarrow nc from Z\mathbf{Z} to R(a)\mathscr{R}(\mathfrak{a}). It is immediate that

dim∘ψ=\circ \psi = IdZ_{\mathbf{Z}},

so that R(a)\mathscr{R}(\mathfrak{a}) is the direct sum of Ker dim and Zc\mathbf{Z}c.

Bourbaki sets the proof directly after the statement, and the corpus does not separate them, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
