Bourbaki marks this one as harder than the rest.

Let φ\varphi be an involutive automorphism of g\mathfrak{g} whose restriction to h\mathfrak{h} is −-Id. Show that, if E is a g\mathfrak{g}-module, there exists a non-degenerate symmetric bilinear form Ψ\Psi on E such that

Ψ(x.a,b)+Ψ(a,φ(x).b)=0\Psi (x.a, b) +\Psi (a, \varphi (x).b) = 0 for x∈g,a,b∈Ex\in \mathfrak{g}, a, b\in E.

(Reduce to the case in which E is simple. Show that the transform of E by φ\varphi is isomorphic to the dual E∗E^* of E, and deduce the existence of a non-degenerate bilinear form Ψ\Psi satisfying the conditions above. Show next that, if ee is a primitive vector in E, then Ψ(e,e)≠0\Psi (e, e)\not= 0. Deduce that Ψ\Psi is symmetric.)
