Lie Groups and Lie Algebras, VIII, 240

Bourbaki marks this one as harder than the rest.

Let g\mathfrak{g} be a semi-simple Lie algebra; exceptionally, we do not assume in this exercise that g\mathfrak{g} is split. Let k‾\overline{k} be an algebraic closure of kk and let

π:\pi : Gal(k‾/k\overline{k}/k)→\rightarrow Aut( R‾,B‾\overline{R},\overline{B})

be the homomorphism defined in §5, Exerc. 8. Let Gal(k‾/k\overline{k}/k) operate, via π\pi, on the set P‾++\overline{P}_{++} of dominant weights of R‾\overline{R} relative to B‾\overline{B}; let Ω\Omega be a system of representatives of the elements of the quotient P‾++/\overline{P}_{++}/Gal(k‾/k\overline{k}/k).

a) Put g‾=k‾⊗kg\overline{\mathfrak{g}}= \overline{k}\otimes_k\mathfrak{g}. If I is a finite subset of P‾++\overline{P}_{++} stable under Gal(k‾/k\overline{k}/k), the two-sided ideal m‾I\overline{\mathfrak{m}}_I of U(g‾)U(\overline{\mathfrak{g}}) associated to I (cf. Exerc. 7) is of the form k‾⊗kmI\overline{k}\otimes_k\mathfrak{m}_I, where mI\mathfrak{m}_I is a two-sided ideal of U(g)U(\mathfrak{g}). Show that every two-sided ideal of U(g)U(\mathfrak{g}) of finite codimension is obtained in this way exactly once.

b) Let ω∈Ω,I(ω)\omega \in \Omega , I(\omega ) its orbit under Gal(k‾/k\overline{k}/k), and GωG_{\omega} the stabilizer of ω\omega; let kωk_{\omega} be the sub-extension of k‾\overline{k} corresponding to GωG_{\omega} by Galois theory. Show that U(g)/mI(ω)U(\mathfrak{g})/\mathfrak{m}_{I(\omega)} is a simple algebra whose centre is isomorphic to kωk_{\omega}. Every two-sided ideal m\mathfrak{m} of U(g)U(\mathfrak{g}) such that U(g)/mU(\mathfrak{g})/\mathfrak{m} is a finite dimensional simple algebra is equal to exactly one of the mI(ω)\mathfrak{m}_{I(\omega)}.

c) The group Gal(k‾/k\overline{k}/k) operates, via π\pi, on the ring R(g‾)R(\overline{\mathfrak{g}}); denote by R(g‾)invR(\overline{\mathfrak{g}})^{inv} the subring of R(g‾)R(\overline{\mathfrak{g}}) consisting of the elements invariant under Gal(k‾/k\overline{k}/k). Show that the map [E]→[k‾⊗kE][E]\rightarrow [\overline{k}\otimes_kE] extends to an injective homomorphism from R(g)R(\mathfrak{g}) to R(g‾)invR(\overline{\mathfrak{g}})^{inv} whose cokernel is a torsion group; this is an isomorphism if and only if, for all ω∈Ω,U(g)/mI(ω)\omega \in \Omega , U(\mathfrak{g})/\mathfrak{m}_{I(\omega)} is an algebra of matrices over kωk_{\omega}; show that this is the case when g\mathfrak{g} has a Borel subalgebra. 14^{14}
