Lie Groups and Lie Algebras, VIII, 250

Let Ω=P/Q\Omega = P/Q. If ω∈Ω\omega \in \Omega, and if E is a g\mathfrak{g}-module, denote by EωE_{\omega} the direct sum of the EλE^{\lambda}, for λ∈ω\lambda \in \omega. We have E=⨁ω∈ΩEωE =\bigoplus_{\omega\in\Omega}E_{\omega}.

a) Show that EωE_{\omega} is a g\mathfrak{g}-submodule of E. We have (E∗)ω=(E−ω)∗(E^*)_{\omega}= (E_{-\omega})^* and

(E⊗F)ω=⨁α+β=ωEα⊗Fβ (E\otimes F)_{\omega}=\bigoplus_{\alpha+\beta=\omega}E_{\alpha}\otimes F_{\beta}

if F is another g\mathfrak{g}-module.

b) Let χ∈\chi \in Hom(Ω,k∗\Omega , k^*) == Ker(TP→TQ_P\rightarrow T_Q). Identify χ\chi with an element of the kernel of f:G→f: G\rightarrow Aute(g)_e(\mathfrak{g}), cf. Exerc. 26e)26e). Show that the operation of χ\chi on EωE_{\omega} is the homothety of ratio χ(ω)\chi (\omega ).

c) What are the EωE_{\omega} when g=sl(2,k)\mathfrak{g}=\mathfrak{s}\mathfrak{l}(2, k) ?
