Bourbaki marks this one as harder than the rest.

Let ψ\psi be a polynomial function on h∗\mathfrak{h}^* of degree rr. Show that there exists a unique polynomial function Ψ\Psi on h∗\mathfrak{h}^* that is invariant under W, of degree ≤r\leq r, and such that

∑α∈Pψ(μ)\sum_{\alpha\in P}\psi (\mu) dim Eμ=Ψ(λ+ρ)E^\mu=\Psi (\lambda +\rho ) dim E

for any simple g\mathfrak{g}-module E of highest weight λ\lambda.

(Treat first the case in which ψ(μ)=(μ∣ν)r\psi (\mu) = (\mu|\nu )^r, where ν∈P\nu \in P is not orthogonal to any root; for this use the homomorphism fνf_{\nu} in the proof of Th. 2 and Chap. V, §5, no. 4, Prop. 5 (i).)
