Lie Groups and Lie Algebras, VIII, 257

Assume that g\mathfrak{g} is not a product of algebras of rank 1. Let n∈Nn\in \mathbf{N}. Show that there exists a simple g\mathfrak{g}-module one of whose weights is of multiplicity ≥n\geq n. (Suppose not. Let EλE_{\lambda} be the simple g\mathfrak{g}-module of highest weight λ∈P++\lambda \in P_{++}. Compare dim EλE_{\lambda} and the number of distinct weights of EλE_{\lambda} when (λ∣λ)→∞(\lambda |\lambda )\rightarrow \infty (with the notations of Th. 2).)
