Lie Groups and Lie Algebras, chapter VIII, § 11. Classes of nilpotent elements and sl2 -triplets

Assume that g\mathfrak{g} is semi-simple.

(i) A nilpotent element xx of g\mathfrak{g} is said to be principal if the dimension of Ker ad xx is the rank of g\mathfrak{g}.

(ii) A simple element hh of g\mathfrak{g} is said to be principal if hh is regular and the eigenvalues of ad hh in an algebraic closure of kk belong to 2Z2\mathbf{Z}.

(iii) An sl2\mathfrak{s}\mathfrak{l}_2-triplet (x,h,y)(x, h, y) of g\mathfrak{g} is said to be principal if the length of g\mathfrak{g}, considered as a module over kx+kh+kykx+kh+ky, is equal to the rank of g\mathfrak{g}.

Bourbaki sets the proof directly after the statement, and the corpus does not separate them, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
