Lie Groups and Lie Algebras, chapter VIII, § 7. Finite dimensional modules over a split semi-simple Lie algebra

A finite dimensional irreducible representation ρ\rho of g\mathfrak g is said to be orthogonal (resp. symplectic) if there exists on E a non-degenerate symmetric (resp. alternating) bilinear form invariant under ρ\rho.

Bourbaki sets the proof directly after the statement, and the corpus does not separate them, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
