Topologie algébrique, chapter III, § 1. Homotopies, homéotopies

Let X, Y and Z be topological spaces, ff and f′f' continuous mappings of X into Y,g,g and g′g' continuous mappings of Y into Z. If ff is homotopic to f′f' and if gg is homotopic to g′g', then g∘fg\circ f is homotopic to g′∘f′g'\circ f'.

Let σ\sigma be a homotopy joining ff to f′f' and τ\tau a homotopy joining gg to g′g'. Then the mapping θ:X×I→Z\theta : X\times \mathbf{I}\rightarrow Z defined by θ(x,t)=τ(σ(x,t),t)\theta (x, t) =\tau (\sigma (x, t), t) is a homotopy joining g∘fg\circ f to g′∘f′g'\circ f'.

Let X, Y and Z be topological spaces. Given homotopy classes φ∈[X;Y]\varphi \in [X; Y] and ψ∈[Y;Z]\psi \in [Y; Z], the mappings g∘f:X→Zg\circ f: X\rightarrow Z, where f∈φ,g∈ψf\in \varphi ,g\in \psi, all belong to one and the same homotopy class (Prop. 2), which is denoted by ψ∘φ\psi \circ \varphi and is called the composite homotopy class of the classes ψ\psi and φ\varphi. The mapping [X;Y]×[Y;Z]→[X;Z][X; Y]\times [Y; Z]\rightarrow [X; Z] which associates ψ∘φ\psi \circ \varphi to (φ,ψ)(\varphi , \psi ) is called the composition mapping.

Let φ∈[X;Y]\varphi \in [X; Y] ; we have φ=φ∘\varphi =\varphi \circ [IdX]=_X] = [IdY]∘φ_Y]\circ \varphi.

Let X, Y, Z and T be topological spaces, let φ∈[X;Y]\varphi \in [X; Y], ψ∈[Y;Z]\psi \in [Y; Z] and χ∈[Z;T]\chi \in [Z; T]. The homotopy class χ∘(ψ∘φ)\chi \circ (\psi \circ \varphi ) is equal to (χ∘ψ)∘φ(\chi \circ \psi )\circ \varphi; it is denoted by χ∘ψ∘φ\chi \circ \psi \circ \varphi.

Bourbaki sets the proof directly after the statement, and the corpus does not separate them, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
