Topologie algébrique, chapter III, § 1. Homotopies, homéotopies

Let Z be a topological space.

a) Let u:X→Zu: X\rightarrow Z and v:B→Zv: B\rightarrow Z be continuous mappings such that v(a)=u(f(a))v(a) =u(f(a)) for every a∈Aa\in A. Then there exists a unique continuous mapping w:X∪fB→Zw: X\cup_fB\rightarrow Z such that w∘αf=uw\circ \alpha_f=u and w∘βf=vw\circ \beta_f=v.

b) Let σ:X×I→Z\sigma : X\times \mathbf{I}\rightarrow Z and τ:B×I→Z\tau : B\times \mathbf{I}\rightarrow Z be homotopies. Suppose that τ\tau is fixed on A and that σ(f(a),t)=τ(a,t)\sigma (f(a), t) =\tau (a, t) for every a∈Aa\in A and every t∈It\in \mathbf{I}. Then there exists a unique homotopy η:(X∪fB)×I→Z\eta : (X\cup_fB)\times \mathbf{I}\rightarrow Z such that η(αf(x),t)=σ(x,t)\eta (\alpha_f(x), t) =\sigma (x, t) and η(βf(b),t)=τ(b,t)\eta (\beta_f(b), t) =\tau (b, t) for x∈X,b∈Bx\in X,b\in B and t∈It\in \mathbf{I}. This homotopy is fixed on βf(A)\beta_f(A).

The proposition results immediately from the definition of a quotient space and prop. 10 (I, p. 19).

Bourbaki sets the proof directly after the statement, and the corpus does not separate them, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
