Théories spectrales, chapter I, § 1. Spectres et caractères

Let π\pi be a nontrivial irreducible representation of A in E. For every nonzero element ξ\xi of E, one has π(A)ξ=E\pi (A)\xi = E.

The subspace π(A)ξ\pi (A)\xi of E is stable under π(A)\pi (A). Suppose that it is zero. Then the nonzero subspace KξK\xi of E would be stable under π(A)\pi (A), and hence equal to E; but this would imply that π\pi is the zero representation. Thus one has π(A)ξ=E\pi (A)\xi = E.

Let π\pi be a nontrivial irreducible representation of A in E. By this lemma, the annihilator R of ξ\xi in A is a regular left ideal (A, VIII, p. 425, No.o1^o1) of A, and the representation π\pi is equivalent to the representation defined by the A-pseudomodule A/RA/R. Since π\pi is irreducible, the ideal R is a regular maximal left ideal.

Bourbaki sets the proof directly after the statement, and the corpus does not separate them, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
