Théories spectrales, chapter I, § 4. Calcul fonctionnel holomorphe

Let a∈An\boldsymbol{a}\in A^n. Suppose that Spn(a)^n(\boldsymbol{a}) is polynomially convex. Let z1,...,znz_1, . . . , z_n be the germs in a neighbourhood of Spn(a)^n(\boldsymbol{a}) of the coordinate functions on Cn\mathbf{C}^n. Then the mapping Θa\Theta_{\boldsymbol{a}} is the unique continuous unital algebra morphism φ\varphi from O\mathscr{O}(Spn(a);A^n(\boldsymbol{a}); A) into A such that φ(z1)=a1,...,φ(zn)=an\varphi (z_1) =a_1, . . . , \varphi (z_n) =a_n.

Lemma 10 of I, p. 64 and the corollary to proposition 2 of I, p. 65 justify the following notations for the holomorphic functional calculus. Let n⩾1n\geqslant 1 and a∈An\boldsymbol{a}\in A^n. For every germ f∈O(K;A)f\in \mathscr{O}(K; A) (resp. for every holomorphic function f∈O(U;A)f\in \mathscr{O}(U; A) on an open neighbourhood U of Spn(a)^n(\boldsymbol{a})), one sets

f(a)=Θa(f)(6) f(\boldsymbol{a}) = \Theta_{\boldsymbol{a}}(f) \tag{6}

This notation is consistent with the notation introduced in A, IV, p. 4, no3^o3, if ff is a polynomial, by properties (CF1) and (CF2).

Properties (CF2) and (CF3) of I, p. 51 may then be written

zi(a)=ai,1⩽i⩽n,(f∘πm,n)(a)=f(πm,n(a)) z_i(\boldsymbol{a}) =a_i,1\leqslant i\leqslant n,(f\circ \pi_{m,n})(\boldsymbol{a}) =f(\pi_{m,n}(\boldsymbol{a}))

Bourbaki sets the proof directly after the statement, and the corpus does not separate them, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
