Theory of Sets, chapter II, § 4. Union and intersection of a family of sets

Let ff be an injection of A into B. For every subset X of A, we have f⟨A−X⟩=f⟨A⟩−f⟨X⟩f\langle \mathrm{A} - \mathrm{X} \rangle = f\langle \mathrm{A} \rangle - f\langle \mathrm{X} \rangle.

Writing f=i∘gf = i \circ g, where ii is the canonical injection of f⟨A⟩f\langle \mathrm{A} \rangle into B, we reduce the Corollary to Proposition 6 applied to g−1\overset{-1}{g}.

¶ The intersection X∩A\mathrm{X} \cap \mathrm{A} is sometimes called the trace of X on A. If F\mathfrak{F} is a family of sets, the set of traces on A of the sets belonging to F\mathfrak{F} is called the trace of F\mathfrak{F} on A.

Bourbaki sets the proof directly after the statement, and the corpus does not separate them, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
