Commutative Algebra, chapter II, § 2. Rings and modules of fractions

A ring AA is called reduced if its nilradical is reduced to 0, in other words if no element ≠0\neq 0 of AA is nilpotent.

If N\mathfrak{N} is the nilradical of a ring AA, A/NA/\mathfrak{N} is reduced, for if the class mod. N\mathfrak{N} of an element x∈Ax \in A is nilpotent in A/NA/\mathfrak{N}, this means that xh∈Nx^h \in \mathfrak{N} for some integer hh, hence xhk=0x^{hk} = 0 for some integer kk and x∈Nx \in \mathfrak{N}.

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
