Commutative Algebra, chapter II, § 2. Rings and modules of fractions

Let AA be a ring and SS a multiplicative subset of AA.

(i) If MM and NN are two AA-modules, the S−1AS^{-1}A-modules (S−1M)⊗AN,M⊗A(S−1N)(S^{-1}M) \otimes_A N, M \otimes_A (S^{-1}N), (S−1M)⊗S−1A(S−1N)(S^{-1}M) \otimes_{S^{-1}A} (S^{-1}N) and S−1(M⊗AN)S^{-1}(M \otimes_A N) are canonically isomorphic.

(ii) If MM and N′N' are two S−1AS^{-1}A-modules, the canonical homomorphism

M′⊗AN′→M′⊗S−1AN′ M' \otimes_A N' \to M' \otimes_{S^{-1}A} N'
derived from the AA-bilinear mapping (x′,y′)↦x′⊗y′(x', y') \mapsto x' \otimes y' from M′×N′M' \times N' to M′⊗S−1AN′M' \otimes_{S^{-1}A} N' is bijective Assertion (i) is an immediate consequence of the definition S−1M=S^{-1}M =

M \otimes_A S^{-1}A and the associativity of tensor products, which gives to within canonical isomorphisms

(S−1M⊗S−1A(S−1N))=(S−1M)⊗S−1A(S−1A⊗N)=(S−1M)⊗AN=(S−1A)⊗AM⊗AN=S−1(M⊗AN). (S^{-1}M \otimes_{S^{-1}A} (S^{-1}N)) = (S^{-1}M) \otimes_{S^{-1}A} (S^{-1}A \otimes N) = (S^{-1}M) \otimes_A N \\ = (S^{-1}A) \otimes_A M \otimes_A N = S^{-1}(M \otimes_A N).

To prove (ii), we note first that in M′M' and N′N', considered as AA-modules, the homotheties induced by the elements s∈Ss \in S are bijective, hence M′=S−1M′M' = S^{-1}M' and N′=S−1N′N' = S^{-1}N' (no. 2, Remark 4) and similarly S−1(M′⊗AN′)=M′⊗AN′S^{-1}(M' \otimes_A N') = M' \otimes_A N'; (ii) is then a special case of (i).

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
