Commutative Algebra, chapter II, § 4. Spectra of rings and supports of modules

Let XX and YY be two topological spaces and ff a continuous mapping from XX to YY. For every irreducible subset EE of XX, f(E)f(E) is an irreducible subset of YY.

If U,VU, V are two open sets of YY which meet f(E)f(E), f−1(U)f^{-1}(U) and f−1(V)f^{-1}(V) are open sets of XX which meet EE. Consequently, f−1(U)∩f−1(V)=f−1(U∩V)f^{-1}(U) \cap f^{-1}(V) = f^{-1}(U \cap V) meets EE, which implies that U∩VU \cap V meets f(E)f(E) and proves the proposition.

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
