Commutative Algebra, chapter III, § 2. General results on filtered rings and modules

Let KK be a commutative ring, AA the ring of formal power series

K[[X1,…,Xr]] K[[X_1,\ldots,X_r]]

(Algebra, Chapter IV, § 5) and mm the ideal of AA whose elements are the formal power series with no constant term. Let us give AA the mm-adic filtration (no. 1, Example 3); if M1,…,MsM_1,\ldots,M_s are the distinct monomials in X1,…,XrX_1,\ldots,X_r of total degree n−1n-1, clearly every formal power series uu of total order ω(u)≥n\omega(u)\geq n

(loc. cit., no. 2) may be written as ∑k=1sukMk\displaystyle\sum_{k=1}^{s}u_kM_k, where the uku_k belong to mm; it is seen that mnm^n is the set of formal power series uu such that ω(u)≥n\omega(u)\geq n, which shows that ω\omega is the orderfunction for the mm-adic filtration. Then clearly, for every formal power series u∈mnu\in m^n, there exists a unique homogeneous polynomial of degree nn in the XiX_i which is congruent to uu mod. mn+1m^{n+1}, namely the sum of terms of degree nn of uu; we conclude that gr⁡(A)\operatorname{gr}(A) is canonically isomorphic to the polynomial ring K[X1,…,Xr]K[X_1,\ldots,X_r].

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
