Algebra, chapter II, § 1. Modules

Let A,BA, B be two rings and ρ:B→A\rho : B \to A a ring homomorphism.

(i) If ρ\rho is surjective, the canonical mapping (47) is bijective. For every AA-module EE, every sub-BB-module of ρ∗(E)\rho_*(E) is a sub-AA-module of EE; every generating system of EE is a generating system of ρ∗(E)\rho_*(E).

(ii) If ρ\rho is injective, every free family in the AA-module EE is a free family in the BB-module ρ∗(E)\rho_*(E).

The proposition follows immediately from the definitions.

Note that even if ρ\rho is injective, a free family in ρ∗(E)\rho_*(E) is not necessarily free in EE.

For example, 1 and 2\sqrt{2} do not form a free system in R\mathbf{R} considered as a vector R\mathbf{R}-space, although they form a free system in R\mathbf{R} considered as a vector Q\mathbf{Q}-space (cf. Remark 1).

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
