Algebra, chapter IV, § 2. Zeros of polynomials

— Let f∈A[X]f \in \mathbf{A}[X], a∈Aa \in \mathbf{A} and pp an integer ≥0\geq 0, further, suppose that p!.1p! . 1 is cancellable in A\mathbf{A}. Then for aa to be a root of order pp of ff, it is necessary and sufficient that aa should be a root of f,Df,...,Dp−1ff, Df, ..., D^{p-1}f and not a root of DpfD^pf.

This follows from Prop. 8 by induction on pp.

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
