Algebra, V, p. 106, § 14. Transcendental extensions

For a family (xi)i∈I(x_i)_{i \in I} of elements of an extension E of a field K to be algebraically free over K it is necessary and sufficient for the relation f((xi))=0f((x_i)) = 0, where ff is a polynomial in K[Xi]i∈IK[X_i]_{i \in I}, to imply f=0f = 0.

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
