Algebra, chapter VII, § 4. Finitely generated modules over a principal ideal domain

— Let M, N be two A-modules of finite length, and let φ\varphi be an A-bilinear map from M×NM \times N into K/AK/A, such that : 1) the relation φ(x,y)=0\varphi(x, y) = 0 for all y∈Ny \in N implies x=0x = 0 ; and 2) the relation φ(x,y)=0\varphi(x, y) = 0 for all x∈Mx \in M implies y=0y = 0. Then the A-linear maps sφ:M→D(N)s_\varphi : M \to D(N) and dφ:N→D(M)d_\varphi : N \to D(M) associated to φ\varphi are isomorphisms. Indeed the hypotheses on φ\varphi mean that sφs_\varphi and dφd_\varphi are injective and since long(D(N))=long(N)\mathrm{long}(D(N)) = \mathrm{long}(N) and long(D(M))=long(M)\mathrm{long}(D(M)) = \mathrm{long}(M) by Prop. 10, this implies that long(M)=long(N)\mathrm{long}(M) = \mathrm{long}(N), and consequently sφs_\varphi and dφd_\varphi are bijective.

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
