Suppose $u$ has a Jordan decomposition, and let L be an extension of K. Then $u_{(L)}$ has a Jordan decomposition, with $(u_{(L)})_s = (u_s)_{(L)}$ and $(u_{(L)})_n = (u_n)_{(L)}$ .
