Integration, chapter IV, § 1. Upper integral of a positive function
— For every sequence (fn) of numerical functions ⩾0,
μ∗(n→∞liminffn)⩽n→∞liminfμ∗(fn).
For every integer n, set gn=infp⩾0fn+p; the sequence (gn) is increasing and liminfn→∞fn=supngn, whence, by (10),
μ∗(n→∞liminffn)=nsupμ∗(gn);
but since gn⩽fn+p for p⩾0, we have μ∗(gn)⩽μ∗(fn+p), whence μ∗(gn)⩽infp⩾0μ∗(fn+p) and finally
μ∗(n→∞liminffn)⩽nsup(p⩾0infμ∗(fn+p))=n→∞liminfμ∗(fn).
Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
