Integration, chapter IV, § 1. Upper integral of a positive function

For every scalar α>0\alpha > 0 and every pair of positive measures μ,ν\mu, \nu on XX,

(αμ)∗=αμ∗ (\alpha \mu)^* = \alpha \mu^*
(μ+ν)∗=μ∗+ν∗. (\mu + \nu)^* = \mu^* + \nu^*.

Moreover, the relation μ≤ν\mu \leq \nu implies μ∗≤ν∗\mu^* \leq \nu^*.

Let us prove the relation (15). Set λ=μ+ν\lambda = \mu + \nu; thus λ(f)=μ(f)+ν(f)\lambda(f) = \mu(f) + \nu(f) for f∈K+f \in \mathscr{K}_+; for f∈J+f \in \mathscr{J}_+, the value of λ∗(f)\lambda^*(f) (resp. μ∗(f)\mu^*(f), ν∗(f)\nu^*(f)) is the limit of λ(g)\lambda(g) (resp. μ(g)\mu(g), ν(g)\nu(g)) as gg runs over the directed set (for ≤\leq) of all g∈K+g \in \mathscr{K}_+ such that g≤fg \leq f; therefore λ∗(f)=μ∗(f)+ν∗(f)\lambda^*(f) = \mu^*(f) + \nu^*(f). Finally, if ff is any function ≥0\geq 0 defined on XX, then λ∗(f)\lambda^*(f) (resp. μ∗(f)\mu^*(f), ν∗(f)\nu^*(f)) is the limit of λ∗(h)\lambda^*(h) (resp. μ∗(h)\mu^*(h), ν∗(h)\nu^*(h)) as hh runs over the directed set (for ≥\geq) of all functions h∈J+h \in \mathscr{J}_+ such that h≥fh \geq f; again, by passage to the limit, we therefore have λ∗(f)=μ∗(f)+ν∗(f)\lambda^*(f) = \mu^*(f) + \nu^*(f), which proves (15). The relation (14) is established similarly. Finally, if μ≤ν\mu \leq \nu one can write ν=μ+(ν−μ)\nu = \mu + (\nu - \mu), where ν−μ≥0\nu - \mu \geq 0, therefore ν∗=μ∗+(ν−μ)∗\nu^* = \mu^* + (\nu - \mu)^*, which shows that μ∗≤ν∗\mu^* \leq \nu^*.

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
