Integration, chapter VI, § 1. Integration of vector-valued functions

Every Hausdorff locally convex space F with the property (GDF) is barreled.

Let V be a barrel in F, q is gauge, which is a semi-norm on F; let H be the Hausdorff space associated with the space F equipped with the topology defined by this single semi-norm. The completion H^\widehat{H} of H is a Banach space; let π\pi be the canonical mapping of F into H^\widehat{H}; we are going to show that π\pi is continuous (for the original topology on F); this will establish the proposition, because V, the inverse image under π\pi of the unit ball of H^\widehat{H}, will then be a neighborhood of 0 in F. To establish the continuity of π\pi it will suffice, by virtue of (GDF), to show that the graph of π\pi is closed in F×H^F \times \widehat{H}; in other words, we must see that if F\mathscr{F} is a filter on F, convergent to x∈Fx \in F, and its image π(F)\pi(\mathscr{F}) converges to y∈H^y \in \widehat{H}, then y=π(x)y = \pi(x). Now, every element x′x' of the polar V∘V^\circ of V in F′F' may be extended in only one way to a continuous linear form on H^\widehat{H} (again denoted x′x'), and the set of these forms is the unit ball of the dual of H^\widehat{H}; it therefore suffices to show that ⟨y,x′⟩=⟨π(x),x′⟩\langle y, x' \rangle = \langle \pi(x), x' \rangle for every x′∈V∘x' \in V^\circ. But this follows from the relations

⟨y,x′⟩=lim⁡F⟨π(z),x′⟩=lim⁡F⟨z,x′⟩=⟨x,x′⟩=⟨π(x),x′⟩. \langle y, x' \rangle = \lim_{\mathscr{F}} \langle \pi(z), x' \rangle = \lim_{\mathscr{F}} \langle z, x' \rangle = \langle x, x' \rangle = \langle \pi(x), x' \rangle .

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
