Integration, chapter IX, § 1. Premeasures and measures on a topological space

Let w be a positive premeasure on T. We shall set, for every function f∈F+(T)f \in \mathscr{F}_+(T),

(1)(1)
w∙(f)=sup⁡K(wK)∙(fK), w^\bullet(f) = \sup_K (w_K)^\bullet(f_K),

where K runs over the set of compact subsets of T.

For each compact set K, let pKp^K be the image encumbrance of the encumbrance (wK)∙(w_K)^\bullet under the canonical injection of K into T; w∙w^\bullet is the upper envelope of the encumbrances pKp^K, hence is an encumbrance (No. 1, Prop. 1). One says that w∙w^\bullet is the essential upper integral associated with the positive premeasure w. One often writes ∫∙f dw\int^\bullet f\, dw or ∫∙f(t) dw(t)\int^\bullet f(t)\, dw(t) instead of w∙(f)w^\bullet(f).

Remark 1). — If v and w are two positive premeasures, then (v+w)∙=v∙+w∙(v + w)^\bullet = v^\bullet + w^\bullet (Ch. V, §1, No. 1, Prop. 3). If v and w are two complex premeasures, then ∣v+w∣∙≤∣v∣∙+∣w∣∙|v + w|^\bullet \leq |v|^\bullet + |w|^\bullet.

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
