Lie Groups and Lie Algebras, chapter I, § 4. Nilpotent Lie algebras

A Lie algebra gg is called nilpotent if there exists a decreasing finite sequence of ideals (gi)1≤i≤p(g_i)_{1 \leq i \leq p} of gg with g0=g,gp={0}g_0 = g, g_p = \{0\}, such that [g,gi]⊂gi+1[g, g_i] \subset g_{i+1} for 0≤i<p0 \leq i < p.

A commutative Lie algebra is nilpotent.

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
