Lie Groups and Lie Algebras, chapter I, § 4. Nilpotent Lie algebras

Let VV be a vector space over K\mathbf{K}. If xx is a nilpotent endomorphism of VV, the mapping y↦[x,y]y \mapsto [x, y] of L(V)\mathscr{L}(V) into L(V)\mathscr{L}(V) is nilpotent. If ff denotes this mapping, fm(y)f^m(y) is a sum of terms of the form ±xiyxj\pm x^i y x^j with i+j=mi + j = m. If xk=0x^k = 0, then f2k−1(y)=0f^{2k-1}(y) = 0 for all yy.

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
