Lie Groups and Lie Algebras, chapter II, § 1. Enveloping bigebra of a Lie algebra

Let f:E→E′f : E \to E' be a bigebra morphism. If xx is a primitive element of EE, then f(x)f(x) is a primitive element of E′E' and the restriction of ff to P(E)P(E) is a Lie algebra homomorphism P(f):P(E)→P(E′)P(f) : P(E) \to P(E').

Let cc (resp. c′c') be the coproduct of EE (resp. E′E'). Since ff is a cogebras morphism c′∘f=(f⊗f)∘cc' \circ f = (f \otimes f) \circ c, whence

c′(f(x))=(f⊗f)(c(x))=(f⊗f)(x⊗1+1⊗x)=f(x)⊗1+1⊗f(x), \begin{align*} c'(f(x)) &= (f \otimes f)(c(x)) = (f \otimes f)(x \otimes 1 + 1 \otimes x) \\ &= f(x) \otimes 1 + 1 \otimes f(x), \end{align*}
for xx primitive. Hence ff maps P(E)P(E) into P(E′)P(E') and f([x,y])=[f(x),f(y)]f([x, y]) = [f(x), f(y)] since ff is an algebra homomorphism.

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
