Lie Groups and Lie Algebras, chapter II, § 3. Enveloping algebra of the free Lie algebra

There exists on the algebra A(X)A(X) a unique coproduct making A(X)A(X) into a bigebra such that the elements of X are primitive. Further, β\beta is an isomorphism of the bigebra U(L(X))U(L(X)) onto A(X)A(X) with this bigebra structure.

This follows from assertion (b) of the theorem and the fact that X generates the unital algebra A(X)A(X).

Henceforth A(X)A(X) is given this bigebra structure and L(X)L(X) is identified with its image under α\alpha, that is with the Lie subalgebra of A(X)A(X) generated by X.

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
