Lie Groups and Lie Algebras, chapter III, § 5. Formal calculations in Lie groups

For the chart of G used to be canonical, it is necessary and sufficient that ψj=0\psi_j = 0 for j≥2j \geq 2.

This is sufficient by Proposition 3. Suppose that the chart is canonical and that ψi=0\psi_i = 0 for 2≤i<n2 \leq i < n. Then nx=x[n]=∑i=0n(ni)ψi(x)=nx+ψn(x)nx = x^{[n]} = \sum_{i=0}^n \binom{n}{i} \psi_i(x) = nx + \psi_n(x), whence ψn=0\psi_n = 0. Hence ψj=0\psi_j = 0 for j≥2j \geq 2 by induction on jj.

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
