Lie Groups and Lie Algebras, chapter IV, § 1. Coxeter Groups

Let s=(s1,…,sp)s = (s_1, \ldots, s_p) and s′=(s1′,…,sq′)s' = (s'_1, \ldots, s'_q) be two sequences of elements of SS such that w=s1…spw = s_1 \ldots s_p and w′=s1′…sq′w' = s'_1 \ldots s'_q. If the sequence (s1,…,sp,s1′,…,sq′)(s_1, \ldots, s_p, s'_1, \ldots, s'_q) is a reduced decomposition of ww′ww', then ss is a reduced decomposition of ww and s′s' is one of w′w'.

By hypothesis, l(w)≤pl(w) \leq p, l(w′)≤ql(w') \leq q and l(ww′)=p+ql(ww') = p + q. By (1), we must have l(w)=pl(w) = p and l(w′)=ql(w') = q, hence the corollary.

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
