Lie Groups and Lie Algebras, chapter IV, § 1. Coxeter Groups

Let (Si)i∈I(S_i)_{i \in I} be a partition of SS such that every element of SiS_i commutes with every element of SjS_j if i≠ji \neq j. For all i∈Ii \in I, let WiW_i be the subgroup generated by SiS_i. Then WW is the restricted direct product of the family (Wi)i∈I(W_i)_{i \in I}.

It is clear that for all i∈Ii \in I the subgroup Wi′W'_i generated by the union of the WjW_j for j≠ij \neq i is also generated by Si′=⋃j≠iSjS'_i = \bigcup_{j \neq i} S_j. Thus

Wi∩Wi′=W∅={1} W_i \cap W'_i = W_\varnothing = \{1\}
by Th. 2 of no. 8. Since WW is generated by the union of the WiW_i, this proves the proposition.

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
