Lie Groups and Lie Algebras, chapter V, § 4. The geometric representation of a Coxeter group

a) The map s↦gss \mapsto g_s from SS to WW is injective.

b) Each of the gsg_s is of order 2.

c) If s,s′∈Ss, s' \in S, gsgs′g_s g_{s'} is of order m(s,s′)m(s, s').

Assertion a) follows from the fact that the composite map

s↦gs↦σss \mapsto g_s \mapsto \sigma_s

from SS to GL(E)\mathbf{GL}(E) is injective.

For b) (resp. c)), we remark that the order of gsg_s (resp. the order of gsgs′g_s g_{s'}) is at most 2 (resp. at most m(s,s′)m(s, s')). Since we have seen in no. 2 that the order of σs\sigma_s (resp. of σsσs′\sigma_s \sigma_{s'}) is 2 (resp. m(s,s′)m(s, s')), we must have equality.

In view of a), SS can be identified with a subset of WW by means of the map s↦gss \mapsto g_s.

¹ This means that, if LSL_S denotes the free group on SS, WW is the quotient of LSL_S by the smallest normal subgroup of LSL_S containing the elements (ss′)m(s,s′)(ss')^{m(s, s')}, for m(s,s′)≠+∞m(s, s') \neq +\infty.

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
