Lie Groups and Lie Algebras, chapter VI, § 1. Root systems

(i) If two roots are proportional, the factor of proportionality can only be ±1,±12,±2\pm 1, \pm \frac{1}{2}, \pm 2.

(ii) If α\alpha and β\beta are two non-proportional roots, and if ∥α∥≤∥β∥\| \alpha \| \leq \| \beta \|, then n(α,β)n(\alpha, \beta) takes one of the values 0, 1, -1.

If a root α∈R\alpha \in \mathbf{R} is such that 12α∉R\frac{1}{2}\alpha \notin \mathbf{R}, then α\alpha is called an indivisible root.

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
