General Topology, chapter II, § 1. Uniform spaces

To make the language more expressive we may use the expressions "xx is close enough to yy" and "xx and yy are as close as we please" in some statements. For example, we shall say that a relation

R {x,y}\{ x, y \} is true whenever xx and yy are close enough if there is an entourage VV such that the relation (x,y)∈V(x, y) \in V implies R{x,y}R \{ x, y \}.

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
