General Topology, chapter IX, § 6. Polish spaces, Souslin spaces, Borel sets

Let XX and YY be two Polish spaces and let f:X→Yf : X \to Y be a continuous mapping. If ZZ is a Polish subspace of YY, then f‾−1(Z)\overline{f}^{-1}(Z) is a Polish subspace of XX.

For Z=⋂nZnZ = \bigcap_n Z_n, where the ZnZ_n are open subsets of YY; hence

f‾−1(Z)=⋂nf‾−1(Zn), \overline{f}^{-1}(Z) = \bigcap_n \overline{f}^{-1}(Z_n),
and the sets f‾−1(Zn)\overline{f}^{-1}(Z_n) are open in XX.

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
