General Topology, chapter IX, § 6. Polish spaces, Souslin spaces, Borel sets

Let K be a compact space and let f be a capacity on K. If A is the intersection of a decreasing sequence (An)(A_n) of subsets of K, each of which is a countable union of closed sets, then A is capacitable.

It is enough to show that, for each a<f(A)a < f(A), there is a closed set C⊂AC \subset A such that f(C)≥af(C) \geq a. Let us first show that there exists a sequence (Bn)n≥1(B_n)_{n \geq 1} of closed sets such that Bn⊂AnB_n \subset A_n and such that, if we define a sequence (Cn)(C_n) inductively by the conditions C0=A,Cn=Cn−1∩BnC_0 = A, C_n = C_{n-1} \cap B_n for n≥1n \geq 1, then f(Cn)>af(C_n) > a for each n≥0n \geq 0. Suppose the BiB_i have been defined for i<ni < n; by hypothesis we have Cn−1⊂A⊂AnC_{n-1} \subset A \subset A_n and f(Cn−1)>af(C_{n-1}) > a; since AnA_n is the union of an increasing sequence of closed sets DjD_j, it follows from (CAII) that

f(Cn−1)=sup⁡jf(Cn−1∩Dj). f(C_{n-1}) = \sup_j f(C_{n-1} \cap D_j).
Hence there is an index jj such that f(Cn−1∩Dj)>af(C_{n-1} \cap D_j) > a, and we may take Bn=DjB_n = D_j.

Now let C=⋂nCnC = \bigcap_n C_n. Since A=⋂nAnA = \bigcap_n A_n and Bn⊂AnB_n \subset A_n, we have

C=⋂nBn; C = \bigcap_n B_n;
the set C is therefore compact and contained in A.

Let Bn′=B1∩B2∩⋯∩BnB'_n = B_1 \cap B_2 \cap \cdots \cap B_n; (Bn′)(B'_n) is a decreasing sequence of compact subsets of K; as Cn⊂Ci⊂BiC_n \subset C_i \subset B_i for i<ni < n we also have Cn⊂Bn′C_n \subset B'_n. By (CAIII), f(C)=inf⁡nf(Bn′)f(C) = \inf_n f(B'_n), and since C⊂Cn⊂Bn′C \subset C_n \subset B'_n we also have f(C)=inf⁡nf(Cn)≥af(C) = \inf_n f(C_n) \geq a. This completes the proof.

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
