Commutative Algebra, chapter X, § 1. Profondeur

Let ρ:A→B\rho : A \to B be a ring homomorphism, JJ an ideal of AA and NN a BB-module. One has the equality prof⁡A(J;N)=prof⁡B(JB;N)\operatorname{prof}_A(J; N) = \operatorname{prof}_B(JB; N).

Let x=(xi)i∈Ix = (x_i)_{i \in I} be a generating family of JJ; the family ρ(x)=(ρ(xi))i∈I\rho(x) = (\rho(x_i))_{i \in I} generates JBJB. By construction the complex K∙(ρ(x),N)K^\bullet(\rho(x), N) is equal to K∙(x,N)K^\bullet(x, N). The proposition therefore follows from Theorem 1.

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
